Foxboro Hot Tubs (a.k.a. Green Day) @ Belly Up Tavern - May 26, 2008
One sentence review: Show started off strong with a slightly inebriated Billie Joe Armstrong with 24 oz PBR in hand, jumping into the crowd, stage diving, crowd surfing, getting the whole room involved clapping and arm raising, spraying beer; but lost momentum as kids adults easily jumped or crowd surfed their way on stage and 2-minute songs got stretched to 10 minutes. I guess if Green Day is your favorite band, it would have been totally worth it to jump on stage, dance and hug/kiss Billie Joe, Mike and Tre. Or have Billie Joe in your face and crowd surfing over you. Thanks to no traffic, we got to Solana Beach in less than 1.5 hours. They started letting people at 7pm but we didn't get inside til 8pm. No cameras allowed as we were threatened that if we were caught taking photos with a cell phone we'd get kicked out. Surprisingly or not, more folks were at the tables and seats than on the floor! We totally could have been right up front; but we old and chose to sit at the tables. Only one waitress working our section so it took around 45 minutes to place our food and drink order. The opening band Girls with Guns BBBBBLLLLEEEEEEEEEEWWWWWW. You'd think it was Amateur Night at your local watering hole.

I think my one sentence review summed up the show. No Green Day songs performed, but one The Network song was. Billie Joe was right when he said real chicks drink PBR, none of that cosmo shit!

But HOW was the music? Was the show worthwhile?

Nobody with any taste drinks PBR.

The PBR comment was tongue and cheek. It was funny seeing sooo many people with large 24 oz PBRs especially one dude carrying 4 large cans of that stuff. It wasn't even the $3 beer special (it was a Miller Light Amber Ale).

I assume people would have checked out the music at http://www.myspace.com/foxborohottubs . It was hard paying attention to the actual music with all the craziness of people getting on stage. I personally wouldn't wait as long as I did for the show, but if you wanna touch the band I guess it'd be worth your while.

I wanted to go, but did not have the time to wait

How long did you have to wait in line to get in?

Got there around 3:45pm, they started selling tix at 7pm. Foxboro Hot Tubs went on around 10:30pm. Tomorrow's Alex Bar show info says no lineups prior to 6pm, admission at 8pm so you may have a good shot at that show. Capacity is 178 for that venue and it's 21 and over. According to the Roxy blog for tonight's show, you'd still have a good shot arriving around 5pm.
